    Dec 07, 2006 · snagelfritz's right. Make sure you thread a nut on first. If you need you can clamp the rod down using the nut, so you don't mess up the threads. Cut with hacksaw or sawzall, I prefer the angle of the threads. Then you can clean it up with a file. Then back off the nut. And it will be easy to thread a nut back on.
